Ilya Semashkevich is a Belarusian-Polish composer, sound engineer, and multidisciplinary artist born in 1997 in Brest. His practice merges electronic and acoustic composition, live performance, improvisation, and visual expression. With a background in jazz, sound production, and experimental music, he works across genres such as ambient, idm, trance, house, and contemporary classical. His approach treats sound as both structure and form, a tool for perception, memory, and artistic thinking. Influenced by lo-fi aesthetics, minimalism, and sonic spatiality, Semashkevich explores the concept of “Imaginative Mixing”, aural equivalents of visual composition. He has participated in theater and performance projects in Poland, Germany, and the Czech Republic, and recently began investigating AI as a method of sonic archiving and genre interpretation. He currently lives and works in Warsaw.
